What We're Cooking
Modern Hawaiian cuisine is a fusion of many cuisines brought by multiethnic immigrants to the Hawaiian Islands, particularly of American, Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, Korean, Polynesian and Portuguese origins, including plant and animal food sources imported from around the world for agricultural use in Hawaii. Many Hawaiian restaurants serve the ubiquitous plate lunch featuring the Asian staple, two scoops of rice, mac salad, and a variety of different toppings ranging from the Loco Moco, Japanese style tonkatsu or the traditional lu'au favorite, kalua pig.
Quality is incredibly important to us, so all of our sauces and marinades are made from scratch. We want to ensure that you have the best experience we can provide & that you feel like you're ohana.
We're just starting out, so our menu is going to be scaled down to ensure that we can promptly provide quality food. As we get comfortable with the kitchen, we'll start expanding our menu to even more delicious local favorites. We're also going to be doing regular specials when I want to try out a new menu item. Wings (Plain $7.95 Dressed $8.45 ) - Seasoned jumbo-cut wings, fried to order. Choose from our list of sauces – teriyaki, pineapple barbeque, spicy Hawaiian, sweet chili – or have plain. (Avocado-Pineapple Ranch or Blue Cheese +$.50)
Kalua Nachos ($9.50) - Corn tortilla chips with chopped kalua pork smothered in pineapple bbq sauce with a drizzle of sriracha sour cream, sprinkle of mango papaya salsa, and mango guacamole.
Lumpia, Shrimp (4) ($7.95) - Whole seasoned shrimp rolled in a spring wrapper and fried crispy, served with sweet chili sauce or garlic vinegar (+$0.50).
Cheesy Chips ($5.50) - Corn tortilla chips topped with jalapeno cheddar cheese and mango guacamole.
A pressed sushi with furikake rice and nori wrapper. Eggs can be added to top it or stuff it; just let us know what you like!
Spicy Hawaiian Spam ($5.95) - Seared Spam® cooked with a sweet and spicy sauce
Teriyaki Spam ($5.95) - Seared Spam® cooked with teriyaki sauce
Teriyaki (Pork $6.95, Beef $8.95, Chicken $7.95) - Thin-sliced, marinated pork loin or beef flank steak or pounded and marinated chicken
Mahi Mahi (Grilled $8.95, Fried $9.95, Blackened $9.95) - Simple grilled or beer-battered and fried mahi mahi, dusted with Old Bay and topped with mango papaya salsa
All saimin bowls come with either udon or skinny noodles. You can also pick gluten-free glass noodles available for $1.00 more

Saimin, Taro Burger ($9.99) - Choose from original, Asian, or Volcano all vegetable taro burger with Portobello mushrooms and mung bean sprouts in our vegetable broth

Saimin, Chicken & Dumplings ($8.99) - Our chicken teriyaki, sliced scrambled egg, and kimchi dumplings in a chicken broth
All poké bowls are served with two scoops of rice and garnished with limu ogo (crunch seaweed). Let us know how spicy you like 'em.
Ahi Furikake Shoyu Poké ($13.95) - Cubed ahi tuna with green and yellow onions, garlic, shoyu, sesame oil and sambal.
Imitation Crab Poké ($7.99) - Imitation crab chunks with green and yellow onions, cucumber, sesame seeds, shoyu, sesame oil and sambal.
Portabello Mushroom Poké ($10.99) - Grilled portabello mushrooms, diced tomato, green onion, and seaweed salad, tossed with a miso sesame sauce.

These are our signature sandwiches and suggested combinations. Take a look and enjoy what we, here – and some of our regulars – enjoy the most! Our burgers are pure Angus beef and come with lettuce, tomato, red onion and grilled pineapple. All sandwiches can be modified by adding cheese ($0.50), egg ($1), spam ($1), and/or bacon ($2).
Da Surfer Delight Burger ($11.55) - Seasoned and grilled to your desired temp, on a sea salt and red pepper flake-seasoned pretzel roll, with provolone cheese, li hing mui bacon and our mango guacamole.
Spam Burger ($9.95) - Seasoned and grilled to your desired temp, on a Kaiser roll, with spicy Hawaiian seared spam & teri mayo.
Kanak Attack Burger ($10.95) - Seasoned and grilled to your desired temp on a pretzel roll with pepperjack cheese, teriyaki pork, caramelized onions, a fried egg and teriyaki mayo
Sassy Tita Burger ($11.55) - An Dusted with blackening seasoning and grilled to your desired temp, on a sea salt and red pepper flake-seasoned pretzel roll, with our house blue cheese, caramelized onions and our mango guacamole.
Plain Jane Hamburger ($6.35 w/cheese $6.85 cheddar, pepperjack or provolone) - Seasoned and grilled to your desired temp on a Kaiser roll
Taro Burger ($9.25) - Served on a Kaiser roll, choose from the original, Asian, or Volcano
Papa'a Moa (Blackened Chicken) ($8.95) - Served on a seasoned pretzel roll with mango guacamole.
Chicken Katsu Sandwich ($7.50) - Pounded and marinated chicken breast, panko-breaded and fried. Served on a Kaiser roll with lettuce, tomato, red onion, grilled pineapple and tonkatsu mayo.
Pork Tonkatsu Sandwich ($7.50) - Pounded and marinated pork cutlet, panko-breaded and fried. Served on a Kaiser roll with lettuce, tomato, red onion, grilled pineapple and tonkatsu mayo.
Kalua Hoagie ($5.95) - Our pulled pork tossed with pineapple bbq sauce on a hoagie roll with a sweet kimchi coleslaw and teriyaki mayo.
Spicy Beef and Cheese ($8.95) - Our spicy beef with sautéed onions, pepper, mushrooms and provolone cheese on a hoagie roll, drizzled with sriracha sour cream.
Sunshyne Chicken and Cheese ($8.95) - Named for one of our biggest supporters, our teriyaki chicken sautéed with onions, bell peppers, mushrooms and provolone cheese on a hoagie roll, drizzled with teri mayo.
Mahi Taco (Grilled $10.95 / Beer-Battered & Fried $11.95 / Blackened $11.95) - Two flour tortillas with a bed of kimchi slaw and sriracha sour cream, topped with our fruit salsa.
Blackened Ahi Tuna ($14.95) - Served on a kaiser roll, topped with mango guacamole, served rare to medium rare - No Exceptions.
A rice bowl with protein, an over-easy egg & smothered in gravy. Go big for an extra $6 ($8 for the mahi).
Loco Moco ($8.50) - An Angus burger cooked to order smothered in our rich brown gravy.
Mahi Moco (Grilled $11.50 / Beer-Battered $12.50) - cooked to medium temp, smothered in a vegetable gravy.
Taro Moco ($10.50) - Choose either original, Asian, or Volcano taro burger smothered in a vegetable gravy.
Chicken Katsu Moco ($9.50) - Our fried chicken katsu smothered in a white gravy.
Pork Tonkatsu Moco ($9.50) - Our fried pork loin smothered in our white gravy.
All proteins are portioned to 6 oz raw weight and cooked to order. Double that to 12 oz on any protein for just an extra $4 (seafood for an extra $6). You can order just one plus a side listed above if not so hungry or more to build your own "combo" to go along with one or as many sides above that you like to make sure you're "piha ko'u opu!"
Teriyaki (Pork $6.45, Chicken $5.95) - Marinated and cooked to order, garnished with scallions and sesame seeds.
Beef (Teriyaki $7.45, Spicy $7.45) - Marinated and cooked to order, garnished with scallions and sesame seeds.
Kalbi Short Ribs ($9.95) - Flanken cut beef short ribs marinated in a guava pear shoyu sauce and grilled to order.
Shoyu Chicken ($6.95) - Slow-cooked chicken thighs, smothered in a sweet shoyu gravy.
Pork Tonkatsu ($6.50) - Pounded pork cutlet coated with panko bread crumbs and fried until golden brown. Served with a mango papaya puree.
Chicken Katsu ($6.50) - Pounded chicken breast coated with panko bread crumbs and fried until golden brown. Served with our house tonkatsu sauce.
Spicy Crough Katsu ($6.95) - Add a dipping sauce of blue cheese or ranch for $0.50 - favored by the twins. Our chicken katsu tossed in our spicy Hawaiian sauce.
Blackened Chicken ($7.45) - Blackened and grilled chicken breast topped with our mango papaya salsa and a side of mango guacamole.
Kalua Pork and Cabbage ($6.50) - Slow-roasted and hand-pulled pork shoulder seasoned with sea salt, served with blanched cabbage.
Mahi Mahi (Grilled $8.95, Fried $9.95, Blackened $9.95) - Grilled or fried and topped with our mango papaya salsa.
Blackened Ahi Steak ($12.45) - Blackened seared tuna steak served with a side of mango guacamole...my cooks will only sear this to a medium-rare at most.
Garlic Shrimp ($10.95) - Breaded and sautéed with butter, topped with our creamy butter garlic sauce.
These dishes are great if you are hungry or like share.
My Moco ($25.95) - Two scoops rice topped with an Angus burger, pork tonkatsu, two slices spam and two over-easy eggs, smothered in our brown and white gravies with a side of mac salad. Brah! If can, can. If no can, no can.
Frank & Grind ($20.95) - One of our first guest's favorite combo...Kalbi beef short rib, shoyu chicken, kimchi fried rice, cucumber kimchi and cabbage kimchi.
J-n-J ($30.95) - Dedicated to our sistahs from Hula Halau O 'Aulani. Start with Spicy Hawaiian Spam Musubi and slide into a combo of chicken katsu and garlic shrimp with white rice, spam fried rice, and mac salad. Finish with our banana lumpia (turon) for dessert.

About Chef Robert Alcain
My true passion is cooking, whether for customers at my restaurant or for friends and family. Families are not only our kin but also the families we make…with our friends, neighbors, and community. I've been in the restaurant industry for more than 20 years…doing everything from busser to executive chef.
We love Taste of Aloha! Every dish is perfectly prepared, and the seafood is very fresh. A couple of our favorites are Shoyu Poke, Kalua Pig and Ponzu Salmon. Chef Robert's desserts are also delicious – perfect end to a fabulous meal. My family and friends really look forward to Aloha Sundays!
